About Us
We have been around since 1969, when we started out as "Jack on the Radio", a small local show broadcasting out of West New York, New Jersey. Our fame and name grew quickly as our unique format gained traction with a multitude of listeners both young and old who found out their music was on our station.

We broadcast music---lots of it---and no matter what your age is, you'll find something you like here. Chief Jack Hawk (left) has been your musical guide for over 42 years. In 2011, we were forced off the air as we'd just begun our 43rd year. Since our hiatus, we've been inundated with messages from our fans asking us when we're coming back. In our last incarnation we were Chief Jack Radio, and before that, the Mohawkradioshow Station, both on Live365. Now we are EFM, a format which, like "Jack FM", will no doubt be copied by the "majors" because of the buzz around us, and is now heard on Pandora exclusively.
We are broadcasting from our new facilities in beautiful Jarrell's Cove Marina, on Harstine Island in picturesque Shelton Washington--starting June 1, 2017.
History
Back in 1969, The Chief started all this on his own because he was tired of "Top 40 Radio", which often turned out to be "Top 10 Radio", with the same songs repeated up to four times an hour. He figured people were ready for a change, and he was right as the audience embraced the variety of music he played---anything from The Beatles to Beethoven, rock, pop, country, even classical. As his popularity grew, he was "on call" for personal gigs and weddings. His little broadcast equipment was upgraded in order to reach more people, and the "little station that could" "snowballed" to a point where he was in demand at larger "local" stations in New Jersey and New York. Although he never had a regular show on a major station, he became the most influential "little guy" in music and if a name act was making the rounds, they usually wound up in his studio for record promotion. Over 2013, The Chief told his many Facebook friends about some of the big names who appeared on his show over the years.
In 1998, a wealthy friend bankrolled a national tour for Chief Jack, with stops in Phoenix, Arizona; Evansville, Indiana; Gallup, New Mexico; and New York City. For Jack, it was a "jumpstart" as he felt he had pretty much done it all in this business and was ready to throw in the towel. He found out that many people all over the country had moved but still remembered that weird guy who entertained them and made them laugh so many years ago. Some of the stops included personal appearances that sold out their venues. The next year, he decided to go to the next step and begin Internet broadcasting with the American Radio Network from their studios in Tustin, California at KTST and launched his first show web site. He soon became one of the studio directors, training new recruits, becoming one of the main program hosts, and often did extra shows over the weekend. Several of the other show hosts hitched upon his show and linked with him to create a unique series of weekend programs that featured talk and improvisational comedy known as the KTST Asylum. Station brass came to call it the "Golden Era" of KTST. In the early 2000s, Chief Jack left ARN for Live365 and did his show from a home studio, occasionally playing classic cuts from his shows dating back to the 1980s, as most of the shows from pre-1980 have been destroyed. At 1:17 PM on March 31, 2014, EFM went on the air with "I Touch Myself" by The Divinyls. EFM is now based in Shelton, Washington.
